Physics Simulation and Animation for Virtual Football
A downloadable game for Windows
This demo showcases the project of my Master’s thesis at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), where I built a custom physics-based football simulation and a shot prediction system for real-time gameplay. Full technical details and source code are available in the public GitHub repository.
The simulation models all the key forces on a spinning football— aerodynamic forces, bounces, and ground friction—and runs entirely in Unity with a Semi-Implicit Euler integrator at 60 fps.
Shot Systems
The build includes three shooting modes:
-
Manual Shot – Shoots the ball with your chosen direction, initial speed, and spin.
-
Target Shot – Automatically compute the direction to reach a target, given speed and spin.
-
Two Constraints Shot – Find the best trajectory to reach the target while clearing a defensive wall, using only the initial speed.
Controls
The demo can only be played using a controller.
